Obituary For William W. "Bill" Bretz

William W. “Bill” Bretz
July 4, 1947 - January 24, 2025
William W. “Bill” Bretz, 77, Hollidaysburg, passed away Friday evening at the Veterans Hospital, Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Harold and Daisy (Link) Bretz. On February 14, 1967, he married Linda L. Wentz at the Zion Lutheran Church in Hollidaysburg.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Kelli J. Keller (Christopher) of Tyrone and Brenda S. Bretz of Hollidaysburg; four grandchildren: Tyler and Brady Shaw, Jordan Keller, and Alexander Bretz; five great-grandchildren: Kamerynn Singer and Joe, Dakota, Kenzie, and Emma Shaw; and a sister, Harolyn Zaldumbide (Rene)of Lewiston, Maine.
Bill was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. He was a US Army veteran, serving two tours in Vietnam.
From 1977 to 2004, he was a machinist at SKF, had his own painting and maintenance business, and was a co-custodian at First Presbyterian Church in Hollidaysburg.
He was a member of Hollidaysburg American Legion and enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, and woodworking.
At Bill’s request there will be no visitation or services.
Interment will be in Presbyterian Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.
The family requests that donations in memory of Bill be made to Guardians of the Children, PO Box 532, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648 or Mending Hearts Animal Rescue, PO Box 97, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
Arrangements are by Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery Street, Hollidaysburg.
