Willard C. “Willie” Bookwalter Dec. 10, 1955 – Sept. 1, 2020

Willard C. “Willie” Bookwalter, 64, Hollidaysburg, lost his battle with Myasthenia Graves on Tuesday morning at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Cloyd M. Bookwalter and Constance (Campbell) Araneda. He is survived by three sisters: Bonni Lindberg and Conni Miller, both of Duncansville and Patricia Marks of Hollidaysburg; nieces and nephews: Misti Pechtold, Jen (Sean) Shade, Kris (Jenna) Miller, Jamie (Josh) York, Jay (Tammy) Petrou, Matthew Marks, and Christine Marks; and many great-nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends who he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sherri George and brother-in-law, Carl Lindberg. Willie was a 1973 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area School District. He was a US Army Veteran and a proud resident of the Hollidaysburg Veteran’s Home. He was a sports fan, trivia savant, and a beloved designated driver for so many. He had a zest for sharing knowledge and storytelling with family and friends. If you knew Willis, you enjoyed his company and he enjoyed yours. He loved music, especially The Beach Boys, had a brown belt in karate, and he took his mother’s place keeping you up on all the news. Willie was an organ donor, in hopes that he could help others. He was a sweet, gentle soul and he will be truly missed. Friends will be received from 9:30 -11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2020 at Plank, Stitt and Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg, where a private funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. by Pastor Dave Miller.
