Obituary For Violet L. Carney

Violet L. Carney
July 7, 1933 – May 7, 2023

Violet L. Carney, 89, Hollidaysburg, passed away Sunday evening at the Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg. She was born in Nanty Glo, daughter of the late Albert and Jessie (Williamson) Jones.
On June 6, 1953, she married Herbert Carney in Cumberland, Md. He preceded her in death Sept. 9, 2001.
Surviving are two sons, Mark (Audrey) of Jacksonville, Fla. and Wayne (Nancy) of Hollidaysburg; three grandchildren: Shari James, Clinton Carney and Julie Carney; two great-grandchildren, Morgan James and Paisley James; a brother, Jack Jones of Ephrata; a sister, Betty Grant of Belsano; and her beloved dog, Ginger.
She was preceded in death by three sisters: Jessie Smidga, Ruth O’Farrell and Lavine Bugal; and a brother, Albert Jones.
Violet was a 1952 graduate of Nanty Glo High School.
She was a member of Puzzletown Road Bible Church where she was very active.
Violet was a fabulous cook and baker. She also enjoyed reading, decorating her home for all the holidays, and traveling all over the U.S. and the world.
At Violet’s request, there will be no visitation or service.
Interment will be at Lloyd Cemetery in Ebensburg.
The family requests that donations in memory of Violet, be made to Puzzletown Road Bible Church, 316 Puzzletown Road, Duncansville, PA, 16635.
Arrangements are by Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg.
