Shirlee M. Shade

Shirlee M. Shade, 99, Hollidaysburg, passed away Friday afternoon at her residence.
She was born in Juniata, daughter of the late Harry Bruce and Leola I. (Dunn) Green. On December 16, 1950, she married Donald I. Shade in Hollidaysburg. He preceded her in death September 28, 1998.
She is survived by two nephews, Wallace Aspinwall (Phyllis) of Arkansas and Douglas Aspinwall (Linda) of Berlin, MD and a niece, Sherri Moore of Camden-Wyoming, DE.
She was predeceased by her son, D. Alan Shade; a sister, Jean Aspinwall; and a niece, Virginia Goldfarb.
Shirlee was a 1942 graduate of Altoona High School as well as a graduate of Shippensburg State Teachers College. She taught grades 1-3 at various elementary schools in Lewistown, Altoona, and Hollidaysburg.
Shirlee was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Hollidaysburg. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 471 and the Presbyterian Village Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Bowman officiating.
