Dear Dave, Mike, Jane, John and Diane: My deepest sympathies for your loss. I have wonderful memories of Rose. She was a truly kind, warm and beautiful lady. As our backyards in Altoona connected, we were your neighbors for many years. I remember Dave on the grill cooking steaks while Rose hosted my mom and dad for dinner parties which continued for many more years after you moved. Rose was a very dear friend to my mother, JoAnn Mitarnowski. You are all in my prayers as you navigate through this period of profound grief and I share in your sadness. Mrs. Dibert as I called her was a member of St. Rose of Lima parish for many years. Her husband and her were active along with my mom & dad Gene & Charlotte Bettwy. Two years ago, I had the pleasure eating lunch with them on Saturdays at St. Michael's soup Saturdays. I loved listening to their stories of the past. Rosemarie was my mums penpal at the end of WW2. As the years went on they would both get married have children and keep in touch. I remember as a small child Rosemarie and Dave visiting us here in England at Beechwood farm cottage. They came bearing gifts for me and my 2 older siblings. I can see Rosemarie handing me this wonderful talc present and I can still remember the smell as if it was today. They both made other visits to England over the years to see Mum and dad and our family. Exchanging letter, photos of the families keeping mum up to date and phone calls, Christmas cards and messages. Rosemarie was a very kind, caring and lovely lady. I like to think of my mum (Iris) and Rosemarie sitting together up in heaven drink tea. ❤️
