Obituary For Ronald E. Snyder

Ronald E. Snyder August 27, 1934-Oct. 20, 2021

Ronald E. Snyder, 87, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Wednesday afternoon at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Roaring Spring, the son of the late Galen and Laura (Golden) Snyder. Ronald married Rose Marie Ann Lombardo on June 20, 1964 at The Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 57 years; his children: Lauralee (Michael Culver) Snyder of Millheim, Ronald E. Snyder II of Hollidaysburg, Gretchen (Glenn) Kyle of Reedsville, Erika (Mike) Beatty of Virginia Beach, J. Chris Snyder of Hollidaysburg, Ben Snyder of Hollidaysburg, Carrie (Frank) Ellis of S. Berwick, ME and Angela (Chad) Applebaum of Chattanooga, TN; twelve grandchildren: Alexa, Isabella and Aidan Culver, Lauren McCartney, Logan, Sydney, Samantha Kyle, Nick and Luke Beatty, Anneliese Ellis, Thomas and Lucy Applebaum; a sister, Krista Jean “Sis” Snyder of Roaring Spring; He was preceded in death by brother R. Duane (Shirley) Snyder of St. Peters,MO. He was a graduate of Roaring Spring High School and obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from East Tennessee State University. Ronald was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Germany in the 11th Armored Cavalry Border Guard Unit. Ronald was an elementary guidance counselor for over 35 years for the Hollidaysburg Area School District. He also was involved in prison ministry and helped prisoners obtain G.E.D’s. He was a member of the Roaring Spring Church of the Brethren. Family was especially important to Ron and he loved spending time with them. He had a very kind, gentle nature and will be missed immensely. He had a lighthearted side and got a kick out of pulling an occasional prank, and telling stories of past antics. He enjoyed horses, baseball,basketball and genealogy, but he especially loved to attend his grandchildren’s activities. Friends will be received from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021 at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg, Pa. 16648. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 25, 2021 at Roaring Spring Church of the Brethren, 901 Bloomfield Rd., Roaring Spring, Pa. 16673 with Pastor Dave Crumrine and Ron’s friend, Fr. Carl Spishak officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Blair County Honor Guard. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
