Obituary For Linda Hendrickson Dougherty

Linda Hendrickson Dougherty
Nov. 22, 1940 – Nov. 26, 2023

Linda Hendrickson Dougherty passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 26, 2023. She died in the comfort of her own home, knowing she was surrounded by her devoted family.
The love and pride she shared with her three children and their families was beyond measure.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Robert J. and Hazel Hendrickson, sister, Neva O’Brien, brother, Forest Frank (Butch) Hendrickson and husband of 59 years, Samuel David.
She is survived by her three children: David (Ellen) of Pittsburgh, PA, Dawn Garrity (Michael) of Hollidaysburg, and Denise (Wayne) Click of San Angelo, TX; nine grandchildren: David Jr (Madeline), Daniel (Stacy), Lyra, Benjamin, Abbey (Manuel), Connor (Nicole), Jacob, Molly and Quinn; six great grandchildren: Landon, Leann, Nolan, Savannah, Hudson, Henry and Samuel (due in March 2024); her dear sister, Laura Lee (Jim)Houtz; brother, Robert (Maryanne) Hendrickson; and many nieces and nephews.
Linda grew up in Clarks Summit and graduated from Abington Heights High School in 1959. She spent some of her happiest times and many summers at her parents’ home on Lake Winola, where she passed on her love of the water to David, Dawn and Denise through swimming, boating and waterskiing.
Linda valued her independence and privacy and lived on her own terms until the very end of her life.
She will be remembered for her deep devotion and generosity to her family and her love of animals, especially her dogs: Duchess, Jesse, Diamond, Ruby, Pearl and Amber.
Linda was fiercely protective of and dearly loved her family and was so very proud of each of her nine brilliant grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to hear of their adventurous travels, career successes and fun-loving exploits all over the world.
At Linda’s request, a memorial service will be private and held at the convenience of her family.
Memorial donations may be made to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Boulevard, Altoona, PA. 16602
Arrangements are by Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg.
