John H. Bishop Jan. 3, 1938 – March 26, 2023

John H. Bishop, 85, Hollidaysburg, passed away Sunday morning at Select Specialty Hospital-Johnstown after a brief illness. He was born in Petersburg, Pa., son of the late James R. and Geraldine (Vanderpool) Bishop. On May 26, 1956, he married Joan L. Winrick in Altoona. She preceded him in death Feb. 12, 2002. Surviving are a son, John H. Jr. (Rose) of Hollidaysburg; three daughters: Vickie Zeigler (Steve) of Reedsville, Susan Forester (Geoffrey) of Muncy and Tracy Leaper in West Virginia; seven grandchildren: Edward White, Lindsay Withrow, Joshua Forester, Sarina Forester, Kevin Bishop, Colin Leaper and Marissa Leaper; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Delores M. Miller of Altoona. He was preceded in death by a brother, James. John was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Army Reserves. He was the owner of Bishop Brothers Construction, and enjoyed building, tinkering and cars. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.
