Janice E. Berry, formerly of Duncansville PA, passed away Monday, February 27, 2023, surrounded by loving family members at Homewood at Martinsburg, Martinsburg Pa. Janice was born October 4, 1925, in Avonmore PA to Martin John Faulk and Elizabeth Verna (Kunkle) Smith. She is survived by sons, Michael (Lynn) of Hillsborough, NJ and Don of Nashville, TN and her daughter, Linda Conway of Hollidaysburg, PA. She is also survived by her granddaughters Allyson McCall (Justin) of Morgantown, WV, Ashley Correale and Allegra Correale, both of Hollidaysburg, PA, and Elizabeth Berry of Hillsborough NJ. Janice had a large extended family including many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who brought much joy to her life. Jan’s great-grandchildren – Miles Carter, Sailor McCall and Hurley McCall had a very special bond with her. Jan was the last surviving sibling of 10 children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, her sons, Greg and Martin, brothers Darwin, Chalfant, Thomas “Bus”, James and Martin, Jr. and sisters, Lois Hamlin, Muriel Hatton, Loretta Berry, and Audrey Tuggle. Janice “Jan” was first a homemaker, and then a nurse’s aide at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland MD, and then Altoona Hospital from where she retired. She was a passionate card player (rummy), an avid bowler, and had a great love of dogs and classical music. Jan had a vibrant personality and she passed her strong sense of character, love of life, animals, travel and the beach to several more generations. Prior to her relocation to Homewood, she was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Hollidaysburg. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in The Presbyterian Cemetery of Hollidaysburg. In memory of Janice and her love of animals, donations can be made to the Central PA Humane Society or a rescue of your choice. In her honor, be kind and pay it forward – “Smile and the world smiles with you.” Arrangements are by Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg. The first time I met your parents was coming home from Hagerstown. I remember a strawberry pie your mother had made. She was a beautiful woman inside and out. You and your daughters were so blessed to have her.
