Irvin G. Lightner Sr.

Irvin G. Lightner, Sr., 103, Altoona, passed away Thursday morning at his residence.
He was born in Bakers Summit, son of the late William and Bertha (Metzler) Lightner.
On November 14, 1939, he married Amanda Umholtz in Cumberland, MD. She preceded him in death April 12, 2002.
He is survived by three children: William J. of Carson Valley, Irvin G. Jr. of Sugar Run, and Judith A. Laird of Eldorado; and many grandchildren, great- grandchildren; and great-great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers: William, Earl, Dan, Sheldon, Charles, Joe, and David.
Irvin was a self-employed furnace mechanic and a WWII Army Veteran.
He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Friends will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday, November 25, 2024, at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 6 p.m. with Pastor Douglas McGaffin officiating.
Interment will be in Carson Valley Cemetery.
