Obituary For Helen T. (Sczecienski) Rubritz

Helen T. (Sczecienski) Rubritz
Jan. 17, 1930 – Feb. 7, 2025
Helen T. (Sczecienski) Rubritz, 95, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Johnstown and Kissimmee, Fla., peacefully passed away Friday afternoon at her residence in Garvey Manor Nursing Home. She was born and raised in Colver, Cambria County, daughter of the late Adam and Sophia (Sczecienski) Kush.
Helen was the beloved wife of the late Jacob Rubritz for 66 years; mother of Thomas (Bridget) of DuBois, Timothy (Carol) of Mars, Terry (Susan) of West Chester, Jane Ann (Daniel) Verner of New Florence and Gerald (Kelly) of Hollidaysburg. Helen was Grandma Helen to 10 grandchildren: Brooke Tarcson, Thomas Jr., Kathleen Matczynski, Paul, Jennifer, James Jacob, Sarah Verner, Dana Cooper, Kate Crim and Andrew; and Great-Grandma to 16 great-grandchildren: Isabel, Emma, Juliana and Lily Tarcson, Teresa, Anna and Eliza Matczynski, Noah and Allison Jane Cooper and Adam, Charlotte, Maxwell, Nathalie, Lucy, Emily Grace and Caroline Crim.
Helen was also preceded in death by siblings, Stanley and infant Stella.
She was a 1948 graduate of Ebensburg-Cambria High School.
Helen was a bookkeeper by trade, then became a tupperware dealer and manager in Johnstown before becoming a tupperware distributor for 16 years with her husband, Jacob, at Ja-Len Distributors in Cresson.
She was a member of the Ladies Guild at St. Mary Church.
Helen spent 30 years in retirement primarily in Kissimmee, Fla. volunteering at “Give the Kids the World” Village and greeting Wish families at the Orlando airport.
The family has great appreciation for the compassionate and comforting care she received for over seven years at Garvey Manor, including special attention from the religious team and the entire staff.
Family and friends will be received from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Justin P. Treon.
Private entombment at Calvary Mausoleum in Altoona.
