Obituary For Harold P. Fickes Jr.

Harold P. Fickes Jr.
Jan. 13, 1953 – Feb. 12, 2024

Harold P. Fickes Jr., 71, Hollidaysburg, passed away Monday afternoon at his residence. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Harold P. Sr. and Alice W. (Saylor) Fickes.
On Aug. 27, 1977, he married Cindy J. Lynn in Williamsburg.
He is survived by his wife; two children, Cody Fickes (Allison) of Orbisonia and Brittany Fickes-Miller (Dustin) of Altoona; five grandchildren: Bryson Miller, Dylan Miller, Alyson Miller, Harper Fickes, and Oakley Fickes; and two sisters, Cathy Meyer of Alexandria, Va. and Roberta Klepser (Fred) of Hollidaysburg.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Amy Lynn.
Harold was a 1971 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School. He retired from Berwind Railway in 2018 as a railroad car inspector after 40 years of service.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sons of the American Legion, Allegheny Club and Heidelburg Country Club.
Harold enjoyed yard-work, detailing cars, western movies and TV shows, and especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 until the 4 p.m. funeral service Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024, at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg, with the Rev. Drew McCaffery officiating.
Interment will be at New Canoe Creek Cemetery.
The family requests that donations in memory of Harold be made to Mending Hearts Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 97, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648; or Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
