Gary and I were friends through most of our public school years. HIs passing is especially sad for you, though also for many whose lives intersected with his even many years ago. Rest is peace, friend.

I was heartbroken to hear of Gary's passing today, as I was about to give him a call to check in. Gary was one of my most memorable patients to date and I felt like I really got to know him since his surgery in September. Stubborn as all get out, but still one of my favorites. . He'd been through a lot the last few months, and seeing him go downhill was tough. I know he's in a better place and reunited with his wife that he missed very much, but that doesn't make the sudden loss any easier. Thinking of you all. -Krystle (dietitian at UPMC Pinnacle)
