Obituary For Fred H. Foor, Jr.

Fred H. Foor Jr. Nov. 20, 1930 – Feb. 9, 2022

Fred H. Foor Jr., 91, Hollidaysburg, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday afternoon at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Fred H. and Lyle I. (Smith) Foor. On Sept. 16, 1953, he married Dollie Jean “DJ” Stone with whom he shared 58 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on April 25, 2012. Surviving are three children: Terri Harris (Robert) of Hollidaysburg, Joni Hutchison (Lyn) of Duncansville and Barry Foor of Hollidaysburg; five grandchildren: Justin Hutchison (Gretchen), Jaime Ziegler (David), Dylan Foor (Heather), Garrett Harris and Brandon Harris (Jacqueline); six great-grandchildren: Alex Hutchison, Ava Hutchison, Owen Harris, Skye Ziegler, Carson Foor and Londyn Ziegler; and two step great-grandchildren: Adyson Plummer and Hallie Ziegler. Fred was the last member of his immediate family. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael V. and David K. Sr.; and two sisters, Connie A. Reid and Mary Jeanne Stoltz. He was a 1948 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. Fred proudly served the country he loved in the U.S. Army. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the 83rd Field Artillery Battalion. He retired from Thackray Supply and had also worked for the former Smith Hardware. Fred faithfully attended Carson Valley Church of the Brethren. He loved watching sports on TV, playing on adult basketball and softball leagues, and enjoyed reading. Friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022, at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg; and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, Feb. 14, 2022, at Carson Valley Church of the Brethren, where military honors will be held. Pastor Bradley R. Runkle will be officiating. Interment will be in Alto-Reste Park.
