Evelyn Ruth Nelson August 27, 1928 - December 15, 2021

Evelyn Ruth Nelson, 93, Duncansville, passed away Wednesday morning at the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg. She was born in Manns Choice, daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Irene (Smith) Pleacher. She married Benjamin E. Nelson on September 14, 1946 in Leamersville. He preceded her in death May 21, 1999. Ruth is survived by a daughter, Janice Kennedy of Duncansville; six grandchildren: Amy Castellani, Benjamin M. Nelson, Laurie Nelson, Jeffrey Kennedy, Jeremy Nelson, and Julie Kennedy; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Russell Pleacher of Florida; and a sister, Joanne Lingenfelter of Hollidaysburg. She was preceded in death by a son, Benjamin. Ruth was a member of Dry Run Independent Baptist Church, where she was a cook for The Jolly 60’s. She loved gardening and mowing. Friends will be received from 3:00 until the 6:00 p.m. funeral service on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg, by Pastor John Leatherman.
