Obituary For Dorothy M. Crissman

Dorothy M. Crissman Jan. 19, 1926 – April 30, 2022

Dorothy M. Crissman, 96, Hollidaysburg, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday at her residence. She was born in Lower Reese, daughter of the late Alfred and Leah (Slusser) Knorr. On Jan. 23, 1948, she married John R. Crissman in Geeseytown. He preceded her in death on May 9, 2003. Surviving are a son, Robert L. (Sandra) Crissman of Hollidaysburg; a daughter, Karen L. (Larry) Thomas of Hollidaysburg; a granddaughter, Chrystal L. (Kevin) Swope of Duncansville; a great-grandson, Britan Swope; and many nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her family and was preceded in death by five brothers: Chester, Donald, Monroe, Kenneth and Alfred Knorr; and four sisters: Lucille Rodkey, Betty Hershey, Elsie Amico and Evelyn Grace. She was a 1945 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. Affectionately known as “Aunt Dorothy,” she was a member of the Juniata Valley Gospel Church, where she taught Sunday school and Bible school for 30 years. She was also a member of TOPS Club and the Hollidaysburg YMCA Water Works Gang. Dorothy enjoyed time sitting on her porch feeding the birds and “Chippie,” playing Skip-Bo, sending cards to family and friends and especially spending time with her family. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to thank the many caregivers that provided such great care to Dorothy over the past 12 years. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at Plank, Stitt and Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg, and from 11 a.m. until the noon funeral service Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at the Juniata Valley Gospel Church, 1301 Juniata Valley Road, Hollidaysburg, Pastor William Gualdoni, officiant. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Juniata Valley Gospel Church Building Fund in memory of Dorothy. Condolences may be made at stevensfamilyfuneralhomes.com or the Stevens Family Funeral Homes Facebook page.
