Obituary For Brenda Lee Brooks

Brenda Lee Brooks Jan. 29, 1961 – Nov. 6, 2022

Brenda Lee Brooks, 61, passed away peacefully at UPMC Altoona, surrounded by family at 1:45 a.m. on November 6, 2022, after fighting a long and courageous battle with lung cancer that metastasized throughout her body. Brenda was born in Altoona on January 29, 1961. She was the second of four children born to Joan Louise (Berkheimer) and Charles Daniel Long. Brenda, along with her three siblings, grew up helping out on their family’s farm in Scotch Valley, PA. She always enjoyed taking care of all the animals on the farm and loved many pets throughout her life. While by Brenda’s bedside, her brother, Chuck, and sister, Sandy, reminisced about their childhood with smiles on their faces. Brenda was a 1979 graduate of Altoona Area High School and met her husband, Bob, during her senior year. Brenda and Bob celebrated 40 years of marriage and were blessed with a daughter, Betty Jo. Like her Grandma Long and Aunt Nora, Brenda was a wonderful cook. One of the things her husband loved most about her was her cooking. Brenda loved collecting anything Scooby-Doo. She enjoyed going out to Bingo, puzzles, John Wayne movies, and crocheting/knitting. She made beautiful blankets. Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Charles Long; sister, Diane Miller; niece, Michelle Long; and brother-in-law, Bill Brooks. Brenda is survived by her husband, Robert J. Brooks of Altoona; daughter, Betty Jo Bennett (Dan) of New York; mother, Joan L. (Berkheimer) Long of Altoona; brother, Chuck Long and sister-in-law, Julie (Wysocki) Long of Belsano; sister, Sandra (Long) Grove of Altoona; and four nieces and nephews. A small private service will be held for family and close friends at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg. Condolences may be made at www.stevensfamilyfuneralhomes.com or Stevens Family Funeral Homes Facebook page.
