Obituary For Arlene Louise Burket

Arlene Louise Burket Mar. 16, 1928 – Nov. 11, 2021

Arlene Louise Burket, 93, Hollidaysburg, passed away Thursday afternoon at the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg. She was born in Frankstown Township, daughter of the late Albert and Mabel L. (Williams) Perry. On Nov. 22, 1950, she married Dale E. Burket. He preceded her in death Jan. 6, 2000. She is survived by a son, Gary E. (Pamela) of Mason, OH; two daughters: Nancy L. Robinson (Dr. Gary PhD) of Hollidaysburg, and Janis F. Taggart (Tom) of Clearwater, FL; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Philip Perry (Shirley) of Hollidaysburg. She was preceded in death by five brothers: John, Ernest, Adie, Kenneth, and Robert; and two sisters: Janet Drass and Nina Yohn. Arlene was a 1945 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and graduated from Penn State in 1949. She retired in 1990 as an elementary school teacher with the Hollidaysburg Area School District after 34 years of service. She was named Outstanding Educator in America from the Academy of American Educators in 1974. Arlene was a member of the Hollidaysburg First Church of God and President of Church Council. She was an Adult Sunday School teacher, District Representative for Senior Life Fellowship, member of the Iota Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, and Board of Directors of American Rescue Workers. She enjoyed attending church, reading and traveling. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. until the 12:00 noon funeral service on Monday, November 15, 2021 at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg, by Pastor Matthew Hornberger and Pastor Dennis Hamsher. Due to the continuing Covid-19 pandemic, masks are highly recommended. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park. The family requests that donations in memory of Arlene, be made to the Hollidaysburg Area Public Library, 1 Furnace Rd, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648 or American Rescue Workers, 502 Mulberry St. Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
