Anne T. Forsht, 101, of Atlanta, GA, formerly of Hollidaysburg, passed away February 9th at her residence. She was an extremely compassionate woman, filled with fortitude and resilience, who cherished every moment spent with loved ones.
Anne was born in Huntingdon, PA, the daughter of the late Isaac and Myrtle (Trego) Thompson. She married her loving husband, Earl C. Forsht, in Winchester, VA, and was married for 52 years. He preceded her in death in 1999.
She was also preceded in death by her siblings and their spouses: John Herbert Thompson (Catherine), James Thompson, Blair A. Thompson (Mary), and Sara Emma Fortey (Len).
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Wendy and Steven Pressas of Waleska, GA; nephews: Roy Forsht (Vicki) and Blair A. Thompson (Linda); nieces: Brightie Cox, Sarah (Robert) Costantino, Kathleen Mellenberg, Teresa Walters (James), MaryAnn Smith (Keith), Holly Thompson, and Melanie (James) Lawrence; cousin, Connie Frye; and several great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her loving companion, John Faulds of Hollidaysburg.
Anne was a graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School, a 1947 graduate of The School of Nursing of the Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital of Philadelphia, where she received her R.N., and a 1963 graduate of IUP, where she received her B.S. in Education.
Anne retired as a registered nurse from the Altoona Area School District in 1982, after 15 years of service as an elementary school nurse. She was previously employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health as a state public health nurse.
Anne loved working on crossword puzzles, reading, travelling, volunteering and visiting with friends and family.
Anne was a member of the DAR, the Hollidaysburg Area YMCA Women’s Auxiliary, the Friends of the Hollidaysburg Public Library, the Altoona Council of the Navy League, and the PASR retired school employees.
Anne was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hollidaysburg.
Friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church, Hollidaysburg, with Rev. Dennis Braun officiating.
Interment will be in Blair Memorial Park.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Anne be made to The First Presbyterian Church, 601 Walnut Street, Hollidaysburg, or the Shriner’s Children Hospital.
